BURMA CHALLENGES

Mr. McCONNELL. Mr. President, I rise today, as I do on many occasions, to bring attention to the numerous challenges that face the people of Burma. Of great concern to those advocating for democracy in Burma is promoting reconciliation among the diverse groups in the country. Like many ethnic groups in the country, the Kachin people of northern Burma have a distinct and longstanding heritage. Yet, they continue to be targeted by the ruling junta. Not only is their struggle against the oppressive junta of concern to those of us focused on reforms in Burma, but they also have an important historical connection to the United States, a connection that I would like to highlight today.

ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔ဆိုဒ္မွာ အမ်ားအားျဖင့္ ကြန္ပ်ဴတာနဲ႔ ပက္သက္ရင္ အေျခခံနဲ႔ ဆိုင္တဲ႔အေၾကာင္းအရာ၊ ၀င္းဒိုးနဲ႔ဆုိင္တဲ႔ အေၾကာင္းအ၇ာေလးေတြပဲ အမ်ားအားျဖင့္ တင္ေလ့ရွိပါတယ္။ အခုလည္း က်ေတာ္ျပန္လည္ ေ၀မွ်လို္တာကေတာ့ Hard ware နဲ႔ဆိုင္တဲ႔ အေၾကာင္းအရာ သိသင့္တာေလးေတြကို အေျခခံက်က် ေရးသားရွင္းျပထားေပးတဲ႔ အေၾကာင္းအရာေလးေတြကို က်ေတာ္ဖတ္မိသလို က်ေတာ့္ဆိုဒ္ကို လာလည္တဲ႔ သူငယ္ခ်င္းမ်ားလည္း ေလ႔လာမွတ္သားလို႔ရေအာင္ တစ္ဆင့္ျပန္လည္ ေ၀မွ်ျခင္းျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ဘယ္အရာမဆို အေျခခံခိုင္ခိုင္မာမာရွိမွ ေအာက္ေျခခိုင္ခံ႔မွ တစ္ဆင့္ပီးတစ္ဆင့္ တက္တဲ႔အခါ အစစအရာရာ အဆင္ေျပမွာျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ကၽြန္ေတာ္ကိုယ္တိုင္လည္း သေဘာက်ႏွစ္သက္မိလို႔ မွတ္စုအေနနဲ႔ေရာ တစ္ဆင္႔ျပန္လည္ ေ၀မွ်လိုတဲ႔ သေဘာနဲ႔ပါ တင္ေပးလိုက္ပါတယ္။ သိၿပီးသား ကၽြမ္းက်င္ပီးသား သူမ်ားအတြက္ လံုး၀မရည္ရြယ္ပဲ မူႀကိဳအဆင့္မ်ားကိုသာ ရည္ရြယ္ပါသည္။ ဘာေၾကာင့္လဲဆိုေတာ့ က်ေတာ္လည္း မူႀကိဳအဆင့္မွ မတက္ႏိုင္ေသးေသာေၾကာင့္ပါ....:D

စစ္ဦးဘီလူး ယကၡဗ်ဴဟာတြင္ ပါရွိသည့္ စစ္ဦးဆုိသည္မွာ စစ္ဖ်ား၊စစ္လ်င္ဟုလည္း ေခၚဆုိၿပီး “စစ္ဦးေခါင္း”ဟူ၍လည္း ၀ိၿဂိဟ္ျပဳၾကေသးသည္။ဗုိလ္ခ်ဳပ္(ဖခင္ေအာင္ဆန္း)က စစ္ဦးေခါင္းႏွင့္ပတ္သတ္ၿပီး “စစ္ဦးေခါင္း(သုိ႔)စစ္ဖ်ားစစ္လ်င္မွာ ကင္းေထာက္ေရွ႕ေျပးတပ္သဖြယ္ပင္ျဖစ္သည္။ယခုအခါတြင္ ထုိစစ္လ်င္စစ္ဖ်ားေနရာကုိ ေလတပ္ျဖင့္လည္းေကာင္း၊ယႏၱယား Tank အေပါ့စားတပ္ျဖင့္ လည္းေကာင္း ေစလႊတ္ေပမည္။သုိ႔ေသာ္ သေဘာမွာ အတူတူအလုိပင္ျဖစ္ေပသည္”ဟု ဗုိလ္ခ်ဳပ္၏ ေသနဂၤဗ်ဴဟာက်မ္း ဥေယာဇဥ္တြင္ ေဖာ္ျပထားသည္။

“We fled our village to a hiding site before the fighting began. I went back to my home to feed the animals and get some food for my family. The soldiers were in my house and when I tried to enter they yelled at me to get out. I told them ‘this is my house’ but one soldier pointed a gun at me and asked me ‘do you want to die?’ I was frightened and ran away. All our crops and livestock have already been taken by the soldiers. We are worried that when we are able to go back to our village there will be nothing left.  How will we survive?”

Statement Summary

WUNNA MAUNG LWIN, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, updated the Assembly on recent changes taking place in his country, saying it had emerged as a “new democratic nation”, in accordance with the Constitution, which had been approved by an overwhelming majority of people. Giving context, he said multiparty democratic general elections had been held in November 2010, in which 37 political parties contested. Today, elected representatives were exercising their democratic rights in legislative bodies. In his inaugural speech in March, the President had said that all elected Hluttaw members were duty-bound to safeguard the Constitution. The new Government had pledged that all citizens would enjoy equal rights, and that it would both revoke existing laws and adopt new ones deemed necessary to realizing peoples’ fundamental rights.

Irrawaddy is the heart vein of (Burma) Myanmar. If the Irrawaddy dismissed the (Burma) Myanmar will be disappeared on the World because this our mother Irrawaddy give a lot of advantages for (Burma) Myanmar for a long time. In addition my admirable artist Htoo Eing Thin composed in his song "Irrawaddy, the Bride Princes of History, Our Mother Irrawaddy.." Why do the foolish leader who is looking at his business,and want to destroy our mother. I have never heard the disaster for many decade except Nagis. If my mother Irrawaddy are getting hurt he will be given the worst disaster to his children Burma (Myanmar) citizens. If you loved your Mother land Burma (Myanmar), we must try to cure to our Mother Irrawadday.
